About the 2022 open seminars

The EU’s new framework directive for waste requires the member states to introduce new forms of reporting. The aim is to increase recycling rates, target achievements and support the work on measuring the transition to a circular economy in Europe. Consequently, there is a great need for statistics and data. The Nordic Working Group for Circular Economy is hosting a series of open webinars on digital circularity transition in the waste sector. Below, you will find information regarding the upcoming open seminars.

Webinar on digital tools for improved waste statistics and monitoring in the Nordics

Date: 21st of September 2022

The webinar on digital tools for waste monitoring and reporting is focused on the Nordic countries’ current data systems for monitoring / reporting on waste and how they are working with this. Waste authorities in the Nordic countries are all facing the same challenges, and there is an existing need for better data on waste streams, waste management and recycling rates. This is all connected to the EU legislations on the reporting of waste data.

The webinar will entail presentations from different Nordic authorities and an ensuing panel discussion among the representatives. Moreover, discussions regarding the Nordic countries’ current situation, their latest developments and obstacles the Nordic authorities are facing will be addressed.

Webinar on digital circularity transition in the waste sector and Nordic municipalities

Date: 24th of November 2022

The Nordic countries are all facing similar challenges in taking on the circular transition our societies must go through. Standing amid a digital and technological revolution, this webinar takes on the question what has the digital circularity transition in the waste sector got to offer Nordic municipalities? An array of innovative solutions is already unfolding across the Nordics. The webinar will showcase some of these technological/digital solutions for municipal waste management and industrial waste management – covering innovative solutions across all stages of waste management from sorting to final treatment.
