About the 2022 seminar series for Nordic authorities
The development of new EU regulations will affect several areas within the circular economy. The aim of these workshops is to bring together experts from the Nordic authorities and facilitate networking, knowledge building and discussions regarding the implementation of these regulations. Below, you will find information regarding all upcoming seminars open to the Nordic authorities.

Workshop on automatic waste sorting systems
Date: 15th of September 2022
The EU waste framework directive (WFD) is requiring separate sorting of a number of waste fractions but allow some derogations. Regarding this, it is important to consider the role of modern waste sorting systems in the form of automatic waste sorting systems, as this technology can be used to increase recycling rates in the Nordic countries.
The workshop shall provide an overview over the situation in the different countries, the challenges they are facing, and the different approaches in reaching EU and national goals.

Workshop on extended producer responsibility
Date: 15th of November 2022
The revised framework directive on waste requires extended producer responsibility (EPR) on different product groups. The purpose of this workshop is to identify the importance of single used plastics and packaging by sharing knowledge and experiences regarding this topic.
The workshop will, among others, address questions regarding the Nordic authorities implementation of a minimum criteria for EPR on packaging. Moreover, common definitions for the roles and duties of producers, producer responsibility organizations and municipalities will be discussed. Lastly, relevant topics and status of implementing EPR for single used plastic products in the Nordics will be addressed.

Workshop on how to reach targets for material recycling and preparation for reuse
Date: 8th of December 2022
The EU's framework directive contains target requirements for material recycling including preparation for the reuse of "municipal waste". The purpose of this workshop is to identify what the Nordic countries are doing to achieve their material recycling targets, as well as clarifying responsibilities. The participating authorities will be given increased insight and knowledge about concrete measures and tools
